Leopard 42
2025 · Master cabin edition · Built for the Mediterranean
The Vessel
KOSMOS is a Leopard 42 catamaran launched in 2025, configured in the owner's master cabin layout. Built by Robertson and Caine in South Africa, the Leopard 42 is recognised as one of the finest production bluewater cruising catamarans — combining stability, comfort, and genuine offshore capability. She is equipped with a square-top mainsail for improved light-wind performance and a Code D for fast reaching in the Mediterranean's variable conditions.
Sail Plan
Square-Top Mainsail
68 m² / 732 sq ft
The square-top roach adds sail area above the boom without increasing mast height. It generates more power in light to moderate conditions — particularly useful in the Mediterranean's often gentle summer breezes — and delivers a cleaner aerodynamic profile when properly trimmed.
Furling Genoa
52 m² / 560 sq ft
A roller-furling genoa on a Facnor continuous-line system. Easy to reef from the cockpit, suitable for the full wind range encountered on passage.
Code D
130 m² / 1,400 sq ft
The Code D is a large, flat asymmetric sail optimised for reaching angles of 50–100° apparent wind. In the Mediterranean's typical thermal and mistral conditions, it transforms the boat — turning a 7-knot passage into a 10-knot reach without the complexity of a spinnaker. Tacked to the bowsprit and furled on its own luff foil.
Master Cabin Layout
The owner's version replaces the standard four-cabin layout with a full-beam master cabin occupying the entire starboard hull. The result is a genuinely spacious double cabin with a dedicated dressing area, private en-suite with separate shower, and hull windows on three sides.
